Aristata Capital has established an independent external Investment Commitee of four highly experienced and diverse individuals whose varied breadth of expertise provides invaluable challenge and, where appropriate, support for the investment recommendations made to Aristata Capital for the Fund.

Brie Stevens-Hoare

King's Counsel & Mediator

“Brie is a highly ranked leading silk, known for being a client focused property and private client barrister experienced at dealing with all aspects of property and property related litigation.  She is also mediator, with a great deal of experience. Brie sits as a fee-paid Tribunal Judge and is in her second term as Judicial Appointments Commissioner. Brie is actively involved in FreeBar, a forum focused on LGBT+ people and their allies working at and for the Bar.  She is also a supporter of Stonewall and a former board member of Freehold, the LGBT+ property professionals network.  She regularly speaks at seminars and participates in podcasts on her practice areas and inclusion and diversity.

Brie’s preferred form of transport is a motor cycle, although she has recently taken up cycling. She has a reputation for enjoying activities like bungee jumping, roller coasters, body flying and travel to far flung places such as the North Pole, Iran and Turkmenistan.”

Raj Parker

Judge, Arbitrator & Mediator

Raj Parker is an associate member of Matrix Chambers and prior to joining was a solicitor at Freshfields for over 30 years, 23 as a Partner. He specialises in general commercial and financial services dispute resolution, international regulatory investigations, and sports law.

He has handled international contentious and regulatory issues in the insurance, banking, pharmaceuticals, air traffic, leisure, diamond, energy, transport, reconstruction and insolvency, sport and media sectors.

He also specialises in international corporate criminal investigations and white collar crime issues and is a member of the Governance, Investigations and Solutions – Matrix Integrity + team.

On the 1st January 2022 Raj will start his role as an Independent Non-Executive Regulatory Director at the The British Horseracing Authority.

Phillippa Kaufmann

King's Counsel & Mediator

Phillippa took silk in 2011. Her expertise spans the public and private law arenas. She is equally at home in complex trials requiring mastery of large volumes of evidence and skilled cross examination as before the Administrative Court, Court of Appeal or Supreme Court arguing novel and difficult points of law. 

 

Phillippa was awarded ‘Human Rights and Public Law Silk of the Year’ at the 2019 Chambers and Partners UK Bar Awards and the Legal 500 award for Civil Liberties and Human Rights Silk, 2020.  She is identified in Chambers and Partners 2023 as a star practitioner in the fields of Public Law, Civil Liberties and Police Law. She is an ADR Group Accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator.

Jessicca Simor

King's Counsel

Jessica is recognised as one of the country’s leading specialists in public/regulatory, EU and human rights law, acting for a wide range of clients, ranging from large companies, regulators, Government departments, NGOs, and for private individuals. She has particular experience in environment (climate change, recycling, sustainability, labelling), energy, privacy/data protection, tax (VAT/excise), and competition law across different industries.

Prior to taking Silk in 2013, she was a member of the Attorney General’s A Panel of Counsel. Between 1993 and 1997, she spent time working on legal issues in the European Commission Environment Directorate in Brussels, in the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg and in the Human Rights Ombudsman’s office in Sarajevo. She is the original author and now Consultant editor of Sweet and Maxwell’s looseleaf: ‘Human Rights Practice’. In 2000, she became a founding Member of Matrix chambers. She is a qualified mediator, was in 2016 UK nominee for Judge at the European Court of Human Rights, is Chair of the Bar European Group and on the Bar Council EU Law Committee. She is a Visiting Professor at LSE and Goldsmiths.

Jessica is ranked as a Tier 1 Leading Silk in Public and Administrative Law (Legal 500), nominated for Legal 500 2024 Public Law Lawyer of the Year.
